Lvn Vs. Medical Assistant Help please

Hi i am currently in a ma program .. well barely it just started. Well yesterday i found out i was accepted into the Lvn program at the college i just left. I am really confused on which i should do. I would really appreciate all the advice or suggestions you all could give me i am kinda on a time crunch to let the schools know so any help please!

I completed a medical assistant program nearly 10 years ago, and was never able to find a job. In my estimation, that career move was a waste of my time, money, and energy.

Hey everyone i just wanted to let yall know that .. i have officialy accepted my position in the nursing program.. and have orientation june 18th and 19th... and i have also withdrawn from the ma program.. i just want to thank everyone soo much for your support.. me and my bf have talked things over and he is going to support me through this.. while im away.. and we plan on getting married next may on my break before last 2 months of school.. So thanks for all your encouragement and advice..ill keep you all updated

thanks yea we have orientation a little early because our school does not start until aug 24th. but we have to get drug, tests, tb test, cpr done etc before school

i have a question thought, on our supply list they have something called a nurse pak, do you know what that is? someone said maybe practice needles for shots etc.. any ideas

oooooooo, got it. i start 8/31. i had the tests and shots because i'm in a course now. you start a week before - stay in touch :-)

i'm not sure, maybe someone can help with this one. i know we have to have a stethoscope, manual blood pressure cuff and i was told, note pad to take notes, pen, and bandage scissors as these are hard to get items in the clinical setting. but, that's up by me. hope this helps. kim

yea here is our basic guidelines on origianl paperwork.... Once selected for admission to the program, the student MUST:

¨ Complete a criminal background check

¨ Obtain a TB screen test or chest x-ray (current within one year), a urine drug screen, and a back/spine examination

¨ Have a physical examination and submit records of up-to-date immunizations

¨ Submit proof of major medical health insurance

¨ Provide proof of current AHA Health Care Provider CPR

Proof of or Dept. of State Health Services waiver for Hepatitis B vaccine

In addition to tuition, books, and fees, students are required to purchase the following items: uniforms ($50), 4 school patches ($15), full-length lab coat ($35), white leather shoes ($65), white support hose or socks ($10), nurse pocket organizer ($12), nurse pak supplies ($104), stethoscope ($20), watch w/second hand ($40), major medical health insurance (varies), Nightingale lamp ($20), school pin ($50-$200). Other costs will vary according to replacement of above items, as needed. *All costs subject to change.

Start-up costs for immunizations, titers, urine drug screen, CPR, back/spine screen, and health insurance varies but could run as much as $400. Criminal history/background check is $15.00.
