hi i live in Nj also, you can also try federal grants as well if the school participates in Title IV. not sure if they do. The school I will be attending for LPN is a county vo-tech school so they participate. But I know alot of private schools dont participate so you would have to go with personal loans. Call the school you will be attending and speak with them about financial aid.

thanks so much but i tried sallie mae and they said that I have to call my school after I applied from them. So don't know why they said that

hi jnc0713 are you going to ocvts?? thats where i want to go. i reside in jackson, nj. whats the title iv loan??

i dont know why they would say that either. Usually you would get accepted into the program then figure out the financial aid. If you can get the money some other way than sallie mae do it. I got a loan years ago for medical transcription and wished that I figured out a different way. They have screwed up my acct so many times. And the interest rate is really high for sallie mae. But if it is your only option. I say see what the school says first.

Hi Lmp5183-

yes I've applied to OCVTS. still waiting to get my date for the pre admission testing. I'm not sure if I will get in for 2009 but if not they will try for 2010. I'm also going to OCC and taking pre-reqs for nursing. so I guess which ever one I get accepted to 1st is where I will go. Title IV is federal grant money that pays for schooling. OCVTS participates. It goes by income level and if you are part time student or full time. I just found out about this fall semester and they paid for all my classes & books too. Usually you can get something. You also can get money from the state as well. Have you been accepted yet? You need to go to fafsa.org and fill an application, call OCVTS and get their school code. They should be able to help you out if you have any questions.

Hope this helped you out.

See you at OCVTS!!!!! I hope!

no i have not been accepted yet but they told me that i can take the addmission test in may and thats the last month to take it to be accepted in sept 09. why are you takin pre reqs?? you dont need them for ocvts right?? i went to fafsa.org and they said my estimated need for money is 0.. its horrible im 25 years old live at home and my parents def dont have the money so now im stuck and dont know where to get the money??

I am trying to figure out the whole financial aid issue myself

Does anyone have information for Aid in AZ? I am hoping to get into

the Fast track program at Gateway community in the Fall

Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated

thanks

Just to let you all know, if you make good money or did on your last year's taxes, you will not get approved for a federal grant but you can apply for federal stafford loans. These loans don't have to be paid back until 6 months after you graduate or quit school. Federal grants are based on financial need whereas the stafford loan is not.

OCVTS gave you the date when you can take the test??? I havent gotten that yet, but I just applied last month. I originally was going for my RN at OCC, but since the wait is so long there I decided to apply to OCVTS for lpn also. The lady said that if I have A & P and nutrition taken I wont have to take any of there tests. even if I go to lpn I am definately going to eventually get my RN, so like I said whoever accepts me 1st.

was your SAR 0 from fafsa. If it is then that means you get the full amount. fill out the application and the school will see how much you will get and any other loans you can apply for. Just I would make sure you are accepted 1st. call the school see what they say
