I don't know what state you are in.....but I am from Connecticut and (hopefully) starting an LPn program in January.
My sons pediatrician told me that LPN's are in high demand to answer calls in their own home for the after hours. This would be 7 pm to 7 am. THe lpn takes calls from parents asking questions about illness/injuries. The LPn gives advice on what to do but if the call seems serious the lpn calls the doctor and than the doctor calls the patient back.
My sons pediatrician said he LOVES this service the lpn provides since he gets a good nights rest! He said this is becoming very popular all over connecticut.
BTW, the lpn gets pay for all of the hours she is on call. SO even if there are no emergency calls, she still gets paid.
    Sounds good to me!

This really sounds good. Do other states, such as KS, OK, GA, MD or AL also have this?
