HELP!!! Which job should i choose???

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi. I'm currently work in a SNF 6a-2p. I'm off every Wednesday and have alternating days off during the week plus e/o weekend. I have also been hired to work in a hospital M-F start time anywhere from 730a-9a and call every 7th weekend in digestive health. I'm so confused as to which job to take. I'm a LPN and currently in school to hopefully get into a RN program next year. The hospital job is about an hour away, my current job is 8 minutes from my house. Right now I'm able to pick my son up off the bus but if I take the hospital job I won't be able to do that, my husband or oldest daughter will have to. Plus I'll lose having "me" time during the week since my schedule will be M-F. I've been trying to get into this hospital for 4 years(yes, 4 YEARS)!! I know if I take the hospital job I'll have my foot in the door when I become a RN. Another thing is that I will have a HUGE paycut taking the hospital job ($5 difference). What should I do? I don't start at the hospital until Oct 1. PLEASE I've been wrestling with this decision for a while. HELP!!!

I would not take the hospital job. The reason I say, is because: 1. It is a $5 dollar pay cut which means less money for you.2. The job is an hour away and gas is $4 dollars a gallon which means less money for you and your family. 3. Less time with the kids.4. No more "me" time. (and as a mother myself I can speak for every woman and say we NEED our "me" time:-)) Although you finally can have the job at the hospital, don't you think it will be better just to stay where you are?? Maybe when you become an RN it will not be so hard to get in there. I hope it works out for you...

Carefully reread your own post. I think you've already made your decision.

How will you attend RN school if you are working M-F?

Don't make things harder in yourself then need be. "ME" time is priceless. Less pay? More of a commute? Gas prices are outrageously high! Time away from your child? They are only young once. Slow down and enjoy them.
