oh how exciting!! Stoked for you!! YAY!!

dawg, back in the dinosaur age, when i sat for boards, we had to travel to our state capitol, (no matter how far away that was) sit for boards for 8 hours a day, in a giant room full of nurses,

x 3 days, (we all filled the hotels in the capital, 100s and 100s of freaked out student nurses, just masses of us..)

then, after testing for 24 hours, zero feedback whatsoever,

then

we drive all the way back to our homes

and wait....seems like it was months til we got envelope telling us the result.

In those months, tons of rumors went around. "If you get a BIG envelope, that's good, it hold the certificate.."

"If you get a BIG envelope, that's bad, it holds the forms to re-apply to take the boards."

I was due to deliver a baby same week the envelope was due to arrive. I kept hoping, "Oh, i hope i deliver the baby first, cuz, if i flunked the boards, when they hold up my baby, i might still moaning around how i flunked the boards..."

well, the baby arrived the day before the envelope. It was a big envelope. I didn't want to spoil the thrill of bringing home my new baby with news i'd flunked the boards..

Took me hours to open it. Hours. I had to call my mom, who talked me into opening it. Took her a long time.

I still remember that thrill, i'd passed. BET IT IS THE SAME THRILL YOU HAVE, TOO!! HEARTIEST CONGRATS!!!

HOW DO PEOPLE TODAY FIND OUT IF THEY'VE PASSED? DO YOU GET AN ENVELOPE IN THE MAIL, OR AN EMAIL, OR WHAT?

and how long after the test, do you find out?

I think it differs state to state. Where I live, most everyone pays a fee to be able to call and get results over the phone. You can also check to BON site and keep typing in your info compulsively to see if your name appears. I have a friend who lives in another state on the border and she said she was able to call and get results without having to pay a fee. Then, they send your license in the mail.

also, lots of good stuff if you click on "Career" across the top border of this page, way up there at top of page.

I remember how I felt after 6 weeks of agonizing. I opened the small envelope: "We are pleased to inform you...." Woo hoo! Four and a half loooong years. The hard work was totally worth it!

How long after you take the test, is it usually, til you can find out?

oh wow!! OH WOW!! No months and months of waiting, and having some inner fear build up then? I know my wait was 3 months, cuz i recall being 6 or 7 mos pregnant when i sat for boards, and having to get up and pee so frequently, i was becoming suspicious to the test monitor people, leaving the room so often to go to the restroom.

oh wow. 2 days!!?? WONDERFUL!!! (many of us used to get vaguely mental waiting for those board results to arrive...)

Mine took 72 hours (not counting the pearson vue trick) and that time went by sooo slowly and i did go a little mental! I absolutely cannot imagine having to wait for months and months to find out! Wow i feel for all of you who have!
