Lpn jobs

Most doctors offices or clinics you have to have at least 1 or two years of experience as a lpn. My question is without that experience could I still try to get in, and I have 1 year of cna experience so would that help any? Really "sale" myself in the interview showing I'm very determined and motivated person along with some health care related experience!!! Is it still worth a try with a possible good outcome?

When doctors offices and clinics advertise for a nurse with one year of experience, they're looking to hire a candidate with one year of paid licensed nursing experience. CNA experience is not licensed nursing experience.

However, you can apply and see what happens. Good luck to you!

I'm a new grad (passed the NCLEX-PN in late October) and applied straight away to an urgent care clinic. They specified in the online posting that they required one year of LPN experience, but I was hired based on the fact that I precepted in an ER and that my manager felt I was a good fit, personality-wise, for the existing team.

So, apply! If nothing else, you'll gain more interviewing experience, which is never a bad thing for a new grad. Good luck!

Apply, apply, apply...Apply to any & all jobs within a distance that you are willing to travel. At first most of us have a hard time finding our 1st nursing job but after you gain some experience, BOOOMMMM the world is yours. I got hired as an LVN at a major hospital in a over saturated area and haven't had a problem gaining employment but I am also one of those hardcore personalities that are highly motivated and I don't allow anyone to determine my success but me. If someone tells me no, I say watch me.

Your just going to have to keep looking till you find a job that doesn't mind training you. Have you tried pediatric offices? In my area, generally only LPNs are hired at them, they may be more willing to take on a new grad. I had 6 months LTC care LPN experience before I took my first clinic job but they would have taken me regardless I think. There can be high turn around in clinics, as was my first job, but I lasted two years and it allowed me to get my foot in the door to obtain a better clinic job.
