I have been to nursing school graduated, passed the nclex on my first try ( a month after I graduated), and I'm also IV certified and I haven't been able to find a job!!!!!! (except through an agency which is awful) I took the boards over a year ago and even with working with this agency I still cant find a job and I'm starting to think I'm just royally screwed!! I wasn't able to make connections with people while in clinical because we got sent to the hospital, but the hospitals don't hire LPN's anymore!!!! And since I haven't been trained like most nurses who do hospice/ facility it makes me very uncomfortable working for this agency because I don't want to get anything on my license! Is there something I'm doing wrong? I apply in person and also to places online and call to follow up and the last time I called the lady said, "If I was interested I would have already called you". Makes you really want to keep applying doesn't it?! Help losing all faith in this and feeling like I made a wrong choice going to nursing school!!!!

My heart goes out to you. Keep your chin up. Keep applying. Agency work is better than nothing at all so stay with it. I've been a nurse for nearly 27 years and I, like you, have worked for agencies years ago and KNOW it's hard. On the upside, by virtue of the constant changes in environments, agency work helps you keep flexible.
