I am a new LPN and am working on my RN. Are there any certifications or specialties I can pursue as an LPN now that will make me a more competitive hire than other new grads once I receive my RN License?

I don't know of any offhand...but I've also never been a LVN so I've never looked for them.
Consider that you will have actual nursing experience when you apply for new grad jobs. It may not be RN experience, true, but it is actual nursing experience...whereas most new grads won't have any nursing experience. IMO, that would be a good angle for you to play up in interviews.
Also, if you're currently working in a hospital, you would be an internal hire should new grad/inexperienced RN positions open up. Something else to consider...even if you don't really want to stay at the facility you're currently at, you could get your year or two of RN experience and then move on to other pastures.
