LPN-BSN in Maryland?

Not sure what the LPN can do for you but there are a bunch of BSN programs in the area. Bowie State is in PGC. Coppin State, JHU and UMB are just up the 95 in Baltimore. There are also a huge amount of ADN programs in the state and I know one LPN that is doing a bridge to ADN thru Montgomery College and is planning on continuing on to her BSN afterwords (not aware of any direct LPN to BSN options though).

My school (Sojourner-Douglass College) has a LPN to BSN program. Its main campus is in Baltimore, but it does have a satellite campus in Edgewater, MD which is in Anne Arundel County. It is a new program, but I think it shows a lot of promise :) The school will graduate its first BSN graduates in June. York college in PA also used to have a LPN to BSN program. Personally I'd do the quickie LPN to ADN and then go for your bachelors, imo its faster and cheaper and fwiw I never had a problem getting a job even at a magnet facility when I had my ADN. Good luck.

Nurse2bKimberely--I've just heard of your school(infact today) and already have been reading online about it. It sounds almost too good to be true. I looked at their prerequisites and are reasonably achievable. I'm currently a LPN with over 30 college credits, and according to SDC Nursing Program I would fall within the Level 2student category. According to the website, their lectures are through an intercative screen, meaning you can communicate and interact with instructors. Now, if I'm not mistaken, does that mean theer is no formal classroom setting? Plz clarify that for me if you are in the program already. Otherwise the tuition seems to be very reasonable, and faster track the the traditional BSN offered in most 4 year colleges.

It depends on the campus you attend. In Baltimore, the students there have the advantage of being there with a real live instructor. At the Annapolis-Southern MD campus (which I attend), the Cambridge campus, and the Salisbury campus, we watch the lecture via the Interactive TV (aka iTV). The system has a LOT of problems, but overall it's okay. Last semester was my first in the nursing program, and a few LPN's were in my Pharmacology & Health Assessment classes. I think they also took Pathophysiology, Multicultural Nursing, and a couple other pre-reqs before they started the BSN program (which is completed only at the Baltimore campus). My advice would be to go to the Baltimore campus, and talk to Mrs. Hayes, the nursing program advisor..I think she is only there Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
