Hi guys, this is my first post, some helpful needed. Newly licensed LPN I have a LTC job offer on the table. Interviewed for my first choice at a hospital today. Have to wait 1-2 wks for them to review applicants. Should I commit to the LTC offer.

You can accept the LTC offer, and perhaps submit a two-week notice of resignation if you are offered the hospital job that you really want.

I agree with the commuter. Take the LTC job while you are waiting on the hospital. Then if you get the hospital job, immediately put in your notice at the LTC and say the job was not for you or something like that. You will never have to list it as a reference if you were only there for a few weeks. I wish I could have started off in a hospital put where I live there is fierce competition for any LVN hospital positions. Good Luck!

I agree. One bird in the hand is worth two in the bushes. Having said that, I strongly recommend the hospital to ANY new nurses. You will learn soo much beyond what nursing school barely touches. It is well worth it for the clincal skills if nothing else.

It would depend on how many LTC positions are out there, and if you think strongly that you will get this hospital job, I have worked in hospitals and now need to go to LTC and don't have any experience!!
don't burn your bridges in any way. good luck!
