Our Lady of the Lake Accelerated BSN Program?

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

I know this program is still pretty new, but does anyone have any experiences or stories to share about it? I have a previously earned BS under my belt and have about one semester of prereqs to complete before applying for the Spring 2014 Program. I'm extremely anxious. So, some questions are:

Was the application process a nightmare?

If you got in what was your experience?

Does anyone else have plans to apply?

Any personal (or second-hand) horror stories or accolades?

Hello, I've considered applying to this institution. They only thing that bothers me is that I never heard or hear people comment on the program..nothing (good or bad)! O really need more info, we are in the same boat! Let me know if you hear anything or if you apply and I'll do the same. Good luck

nurse_van2014, I will definitely try to keep you posted if I hear any news at all. Hopefully someone with experience with this program will come along and enlighten us! There was a thread from last year where a few ladies were talking about it; some of them did get accepted. Maybe I'll try posting some questions to that thread, even though it's kind of old. https://allnurses.com/louisiana-state-nursing/our-lady-lake-701756.html

*bump*

Does anyone have any input?

I will be applying to the accelerated bsn program for spring 2014. I do not have much information beyond that, but I will keep you posted on the application process.

i completed the accelerated asn program this past june... the accelerated bsn recently replaced the accelerated asn. i was in the second to last class (one more completed in dec)... https://allnurses.com/louisiana-state-nursing/lady-lake-accelerated-448048.html

this is the forum where i got all of my info before starting the program. it is very long and has tons of info.

i can say that the program is very rigorous and fast paced. u cannot be a slacker in an accelerated program. i imagine that the accelerated bsn will be very similar in design and pace, only tacking on a few extra months and classes at the end... my program was 10 months; im not sure how long it is now.

i will also say that i felt very prepared for the nclex and for working as an actual RN upon completion

@Fumanchuesday Thanks for your response. How many test on average did you all have per class and how many chapers were covered on each test. And how frequent were test and quizzes? Thanks

I spoke with someone in admissions a couple days ago and was informed that the religion course is going to be waived for ABSN program.

we usually had 3 or 4 tests per class... they were roughly every week or week and a half. the amount of chapters varied; they jumped around a lot. if i had to say a number, i would say 3-6 chapters per test

@Fumanchuesday Thanks for the response, that not as bad as I thought.

I have applied and they have received all of my transcripts thus far. I am anxiously waiting on my acceptance :)

I just finished applying myself. I will check with the school on Wednesday to make sure they received both of my transcripts. Are you from the BR area?
