Applied For LSU SON and Charity

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hello everybody!

As you can tell from my userid, I'm scared as heck. I turned in my LSU SON application on November 21, 2010, and my Charity app on December 9, 2010. I made a 90 on the HESI A2 for LSU and an 85 on the TEAS for Charity. My Charity GPA is "average", and my LSU GPA is right at a 3.0. I'll be graduating with a degree in Biology/Pre-Med in May from Louisiana Tech University (& I went to ULM for a year). So, I've completed and surpassed all the required courses for both schools and even scanned the transfer matrix to make sure EVERYTHING transfers, which it does. I mean I have the chemistries and extensive studies in advanced 400 level biologies--do the schools even look into that? Does that make an applicant stand out? I have 2 years and running of work experience in an emergency room up here as well. Now some of you might be wondering why I am wanting to do nursing school in NOLA--I'm wanting to get away from North Louisiana mainly! I think New Orleans and the Northshore are the 2 best places on earth, so why not apply to two awesome schools? Unfortunately, I am SCARED TO DEATH because I don't know what I'm going to do if I do not get into school. I've heard all these stories about Charity messing up profile scores and such. I don't really know much of anything about LSU except for the fact that I will have to retake Anatomy and Physiology with the cadavers--which I'm excited about. I've researched all these threads on here, and they're making me so paranoid. I don't want to be stuck up here w/ a useless pre med degree after graduation. Does anyone have any encouraging words or can give me an outlook on the likelihood of me getting into one of the schools? I know there's no such thing as a psychic, but I've been told schools really take into consideration those standardized test scores. I know all schools prefer people who took all undergrad classes at their school, but that's just not my case! :-) Thanks!!

Oh by the way, I don't know why I have a broken heart as a picture, so silly!!!!!

And one last note, I'm applying for Charity's Spring 2012 class and LSU's Fall 2011 class :-)

OMg you have nothing to worry about.....i think at Charity you will have no problem getting in. IF you completed all the classes, got such a high score on the TEAS and have bachelors degree you will be in for sure. I got in for the fall 2011. i have a bachelors degree from UNO a 78 on the TEAS a 3.5 gpa. Have you drop any classes ? because they do give 10 points for not. In you profile sheet if you have more then 55 points you will get in. I suggest that you go to their website and download the profile sheet. ANd if you calculate more then a 55 dont sweat it.

Every single class is completed and transferred for Charity, and that is the one I'm really leaning towards at this point. I believe I have a 65 or so--I've calculated it several times! I have dropped alot of classes throughout my Biology degree (like Physics, Calculus, etc...HA!)--but as far as the CSN curriculum, I have only dropped 1 class--it was Math 116 at ULM which is the equivalent to Math 203 in the Delgado system--and was eventually retaken at LA Tech. So, that's 5 points. I just want to be down there more than anything in the world, the area's such a great place. Thanks for the insight!

Yea don't worry you will get in!!! I had a 65 also and they send me a denial letter but I went there and they accepted me bc they calculated my profile wrong so wte happens go there bc u have all the points to start the program!!!

I think you will get in.

you will get in, I was extremely worried about it because I hadn't been to school in 10 yrs and my last college transcipt wasnt so hot... My profile score was a 65 and I got in. They say as long as its above 50 you will usually get in

Update just for the heck of it: I got into BOTH programs!!!!! All this worrying for the past 8+ months for nothing! Thanks for the encouragement everybody!
