Louisiana license renewal question

Published

Hi!
I just graduated with my BSN in May 2020, and got my first license in June this year. I’ve been getting emails from LSBN about renewing my license already? I thought my license was good for 2 years, but I don’t want to not renew it if I need to. It’s another $200! I’m just confused because I literally just got my initial license. Can anyone provide any clarification? Thanks!!

Check your expiration date. Many states have set expiration dates based on last name or birth date or other criteria. In my state, licenses expire in October or April on the odd or even year. My first license was only valid for about 14 months. Depending on your state and where you fall for license expiration, you may have a very short-lived first license.

As Rose_Queen said, see when your license is set to expire. We've seen this exact same issue here at AllNurses concerning Louisiana Nurse licenses.
