Hello all, is anybody applying to Los Medanos CC for fall 2011. I just sent in my application with my fingers crossed:up:
for those on the alternate list -
i e-mailed the admissions office to ask how much i have moved up on the waiting list, since we had to send in our decision last wednesday. i know that the teas test has not happened yet, but i couldn't wait! i just had to know! lol
i am alternate #15, so i have my fingers crossed!
this is the email response i received:
i will start calling the alternates today based on those who declined or did not respond. i can tell you that you have moved up, but we have not gotten to your number yet. i will know more after i get the results from the teas testing this week.
hopefully, you will hear from me monday of next week. i should know by then how many spots we have available. good luck tomorrow!!
hope this helps other alternates :)
i think you are going to get in:)
We are on the same boat right now, and I feel the same way you do. I am so scared. What subject do you feel your weakness is in? The science portion in the version5 study guide is killing me. I know nothing about rocks, magmas, or tectonic plates. This version does not mention anything in that subject. This past week went by so fast for me, and I wish we had a few more weeks to prepare for this big exam. On this website I have been reading so much about everyones outcome on their exam, and what scares me the most are the posting that say "I have been studying for months now, and I failed my exam." I am trying to stay positive. I really want to pass and it sucks that we only get one chance. Have you purchased the version4 online practice? I did, and I scored pretty low on it. I really hope we can both pass this exam. Good Luck!
I took one of the practice tests and did pretty good. It could have been better; it was beyond what is required, so that is good enough for me. I just want to remain calm and collective when taking the exam:lol2: My weakness was definitely the science portion:down:
Best of luck on the TEAS! I found that how I scored on the practice exam was similar to how I ended up scoring on the real exam, though I scored different than expected on the individual sections.
For those of you like me who have already taken the exam, just some FYI - if you sent your TEAS score from ATI directly, I just learned from the nursing dept that it automatically goes to the right person mentioned on our acceptance forms, which is great. I was nervous because ATI only states that it sends the scores to Los Medanos ADN - so, who knows to whom the scores actually goes! I did not want to spend $22, only to find my scores were sent to the admissions and records office or something like that.
Best of luck tomorrow (or Wednesday)!

Just wanted to share my experience :) I took the TEAS before I was even accepted into a program, just to get it over with. This was before they made the rule you could only use your first score, so thank God I did well! lol I didn't study for it, I signed up to take it two days before the test. I did the "worst" on the science portion because I had no idea about clouds, rocks, tetonic plates, etc. There is no way you can study for all that and there's maybe only one question on each, so I wouldn't even know where to begin. There were some chemistry and anatomy questions. I think I only scored like a 72 on the science portion. But, the math, english, and reading comprehension were super easy. My overall score was 89.2% for the test. It's really not that bad. The biggest piece of advice for me was to brush up on your math and calculations. My friend took too long on the math and ended up failing because of it. So, that's all I did for those two days, I practiced doing math as quickly as possible :) For reading, I remember there was a sample restaurant menu and it asked questions along the lines of what is the most expensive item or how much is a salad if it's ordered with a meal. Really silly questions~lol. I know the test has changed, so maybe it is more difficult, but I can't imagine it being that different. You will do fine! Good luck :)
Hi Denise,
That offer sounds very tempting. That is very kind and thoughtful of you. I have one more day to review, but I think I will just stick to the materials I have here. The practice test I took were the exact same questions, the first time I scored a 69, and the second time which I took the following day I scored a 84. I'm hoping someone from LMC who is taking their Teas today will post a few pointers for me for tomorrow. Thank you again for offering your study manual.

See, you did great! Also, I believe the "cut" score is 67. That is not the % correct as they have some factor which takes into consideration the difficulty of the version of the test, the number answered and number answered correct. Strange formula. BUT, 84 is great! So don't stress out too much...Good luck tomorrow.
Denise
Congratulations on passing the Teas Exam!!!!! I passed it too, and I am so glad that it's finally over with.
Congrats to you:yeah: I am so glad I can relax for a minute. I am exhausted! I am going to sleep in all day tomorrow. I am looking at the packet, and there is tons of stuff to do:uhoh3: I guess I will call my doctor tomorrow and get started on the physical to ensure that the papers are returned on time!
