Los Angeles County School of Nursing Fall 2017

Published

Hey, is there anyone who applied for Fall 2017 admission to LA County? Have you guys heard any news? has anyone called you? What are your thoughts?

Do they allow a certain number of repeats for gr sciences? Or is the higher grade counted irregardless of a repeat like County?

They take repeats but they only take the first or most recent passing grade. They don't count Was mean the W's doesn't affect GPA. I hope I'm answering to your questions. Fyi: I repeat Anatomy twice. The first was a C and t second is a B. I also have 2 W's in anatomy (this is why I'm having hard time getting accept it). But LATCC doesn't care with W's.

Repeat Rule is my problem too, I repeated 2 classes like 7 or 8 years ago... with some schools they fall off after 5-7 years like El Camino, and others like SMC are SET on the no one than 1 repeat. I have 1 A in anatomy and a B in physio and micro. Completed an AA at SMC so all my general eds are completed, I'm a CNA, an MA, I work for LA County, but I only scored a 70 on the TEAS. I actually went to an info session at LATTC and though no repeat rule is printed ANYWHERE in the brochure, the info session host stated I can't repeat no more than one course.

Hey was the cut off 77 or 76?

So LATTC does not care about repeats at all?

District campuses wont allow you to repeat a class that you passed. For example, I got a C in anatomy and they wouldn't let me repeat the class so I took the class again online from other state (I repeat the class because applying for LA County). What class were you able to repeat? Did you repeat because you fail?

My points were in the 70's just points away from the 76 cutoff.

Oh mannnn... I just recount my points. I think I only have 74 so it looks like :( I'll be eating donuts again this weeked and watch netflix :(

So I called and says they will let me know by tomorrow because I haven't received anything yet.

My friend got accepted to Santa monica College nursing fall 2017.

I totally forgot about applying there. GAH.

I called today and spoke to a lady who says she will call me tomorrow re: my application status supposedly

so im a little confused. I called today as well and a lady whos important didnt tell me that i didnt get in but also didnt tell me that i got in. she told me that there is still positivity for me and what not and that there could be a waitlist depending on who declines their seat because they got into another program. she told me that the cut off score is 77 but others on this forum are saying 76... sooo idk which one. ALSO, if the cut off score is around 77 or 76 who would they choose from that ? what if more than 50 people have those cut off scores? that kinda scares me. this is making my mind go crazy because i have 76 points

If there are multiple candidates with 76 points then they would use other criteria to pick from that pool. What are the other criteria? I'm not too sure, but some possible criteria that come to mind are 1. the # of GEs completed or 2. healthcare experience.

I called this morning, the person in charge took my name and number and said someone will call me back this afternoon to give me the status of my application (if I made it in or not). I kind of lost hope already, but I'd still like to know for sure. I do not know what to think anymore. We are reading that the cutoff was 76, then people are being told it was 77. It doesn't matter what the cutoff was, people with more points than that are not being notified either so does that mean they didn't make it in? Only county knows if they did or not, and only they know why. I do get why people with 76 points made it in because they have been applying for a while; I'm okay with them being given special considerations. They didn't give up and they deserve the chance. I'll let you know what they tell me this afternoon. I'm still not giving up! If I didn't make it in this time, I will apply into both programs next time: Generic and bridge. I'll keep on applying until they get tired of seeing my application, and will let me in :)

Any news today for anyone
