Looking to move to NY

Hi Everyone:

I'm new to this site and I'm looking for info about upstate NY. My hubby and 18yo son and I are thinking about leaving KS and moving to NY. I'm looking for info about where to move. If this site is not the one I need could someone please suggest a site. I have been an LPN for 20 y and have had my RN BSN for 10 years. We are looking for a town of 30,000 or less, with easy access to mounations, rivers, lakes. We looked at the Ithaca area but it seems very expensive and the RN wages at the local hosp were a little disappointing. We are now looking at Plattsburgh NY. I would like to be 2-3 hours from the city, but the men in my family are more interested in fishing. Plus where ever we are I will be closer to NYC than I am now. So any suggestions on where we can find; scenery, reseasonable rent, a close hospital and college, and good wages I would appreciate the info.
