Looking for LPN jobs

Published

Hello everybody,

I am one of the LPN who is currently working in singapore. I will going to sit NCLEX-LPN exam on coming november. If I pass my exam, I have a plan to migrate USA. My husband lives in North Carolina. So, I want to work in this area. Do you have any idea for any agency recruiting the international nurse in that area?

Another question is - I applied the licence in New York Nursing Board and they are the one gave me ATT number to sit the exam. So, I am wondering whether I can change my licence if I pass the NCLEX-LPN exam in november. Pls advise me whatever I need to know and prepare in advance.

Thanks you so much,

kay

Once you get your New York license you can apply for reciprocity in North Carolina. Call the North Carolina state board office for the specifics, such as will you need fingerprints, etc. I don't live in NC so I'm not sure where you can find a job, but I know that there is a ManorCare in NC that you can apply to. I'm not certain what it is in. Good Luck!

Oh! thanks lovelife2. Its a very useful information. Manorcare? humm I have to find out. I know only bayada nurse team. Anyway, i got very precious news from you. Thanks million. :D

I don't know anything about how this works. If you go to the top of the page there is a tab that reads "region" then select "international" and you will see a forum for Philippine nurses. You could probably get some helpful answers in there.

Good luck

ManorCare is an HCR facility which is a nursing home. There are many of them in the North Carolina area depending on where you are going to live. Nursing Homes (or Skilled Nursing Facilities) are always hiring LPNs, especially for midnight shift. If you can't get into one right away offer to work as a "fill-in" for them whenever someone calls off or is on vacation and that way you can get your foot in the door and some experience. I'm a former DON of several and also was a SNF Administrator. You really shouldn't have that much trouble. Same goes for all of you new grads out there who can't find work (RN and LPN). Offer to fill in for a LTC when people are off or on vacation. I once worked two full - time jobs just doing that. Also, if you are an LPN take an IV Certification Class so that you can hang IVs (under direction of an RN).

The LPN license in IL expires every year. So essentially you can have the license as long as you want just renew it every year. I'm not sure how it will work for New York, but it should be similar. I hope this answers your question.

hi juliannc99,

thank you so much for your information and support. now, i am trying to get more cert: like iv, wound care management as you mentioned above. i am preparing myself to know as like rn. now, my doctor let me do ecg, audiometry test, vision test, dressing , sto , etc., thanks for your advises and hope to see you by chance in one day.

by the way, lets say, if i pass the exam, i will get nclex-lpn's licence. i want to know that how long can i hold the licence without working in the usa yet . i am wondering what is the validity period of the licence start from the issued date?

thanks in advance for your answer.

hi lovelife2,

thank you so much for your answer. so, you mean, i just renew it every year through singapore? my question is , if i decide to come only in end of the year 2011, but i got my licence in 2010. in this case, can i still renew my licence without practicing personally in us?

becasue, i am studying part time degree of biomedical science and it will only end in 2011. so, i have to stop studying half way if the licence can't renew through singapore.

thanks in advance for your answer.

Your LPN license is valid from the date that is on it and will expire by the date that is on it. LPN / RN licenses expire at different times in different states. You will have to take so many continuing credits per year to renew it. For example: In FL I need to take 24 continuing credit hours in a 2 year period to renew my license ~ this must be done by the date of exiration. They will send you an additional notification as the date draws near. You also have to pay a fee of renewal. Get any additional certifications that you can at any time ~ they always help put you above others ~ especially wound care, IV, and of course you need to be CPR certified. Good luck.
