Looking for a good med-surg aid

Published

I saw a YouTube video of a girl giving advice for succeeding in med-surg classes and she had a book called "Med-Surg Made Easy!" or something along those lines. I used a book like that for microbiology and it helped a lot!

Does anyone have any suggestions for med-surg books like this that will help me? My first exam was rough and I know it'll only get more difficult but I know I have it in me to do really well! I just wasn't prepared for the workload and all the information. I want as many helpful resources as possible!!

I already have an NCLEX-RN book by Billings with practice questions and a pharmacology book by Karch. I just need a "for dummies" book basically haha!

Other suggestions on ways I can succeed in this class are encouraged!! I'm ADHD and have frequent panic attacks (all being medicated through a psychiatrist) so I want all the advice I can get!

My school recommends Med-Surg Success.

I think we have this in our campus bookstore! I'll check, thank you!

I saw that same video of the girl recommending Med Surg made Incredibly Easy. I bought it and so far it's been really helpful. My textbook for class is so dry and it's hard for me to concentrate while reading it, but this "made easy" book makes it seem like a friend is explaining it to you on a more natural level.

I def recommend it.

I got it! My prof actually had the 2nd edition in her office and let me borrow it til mine came (the 3rd edition)! So I'm thinking it's a good pick! Thank you!

I second THIS.

The "Success Series" is a good series of books that are great for review of content; they have NCLEX-style questions to help you prepare for exams.

Having a great book (especially the "recommended reading list" books) to prepare for exams greatly helped me with my test anxiety, and helped me survive nursing school, and are great resources through nursing school and beyond.

how can i get a copy of the girl recommending Med Surg made Incredibly Easy?

Med surg made easy is a good book to have. I think you anger it on amazon. I used it all the time in nursing school.

I can't decide between med surg made easy or pathophysiology made easy. Can anyone who has seen both compare the two?

I had the patho one too. I have several of the "nursing made easy" books. The med surg has a lot more content if I remember right which is quite a lot pages longer. In my med-surg classes, or we call them health alterations & complex Heath alterations we had to make mind maps for every disease we we were studying (ie MS, CHF, DM or whatever) Reading through the appropriate section in med-surg made easy was basically all the nuts and bolts of what we needed on our mind map worksheets. There were things I had to look up in my med-surg book, but the med-surg made easy made it a lot easier to understand. The patho book had A LOT of the same content. I guess I am saying I would go with the med-surg made easy book.

I have a good number of my Med/Surg I notes typed up...almost all of my Med/Surg II notes. If you thought my A&P notes were great ...wait till you see these! I will try to post a few...hopefully they are not too big! I love mentoring nursing students...feel free to email me with specific questions :-)
