Mother of brain dead teen Jahi McMath gives update on daughter’s condition - Story | WTXF
Looks like a lip piercing to me. Just doing that procedure gives me the willys. No tape over her eyes in this one. And is that a lip piercing?
To ixchel - I think (?) our other jahi post questioned puberty (and menstruation?) somewhere in the post. All the hormonal activities would still have to occur so if that part of her brain somehow still functioned to start the hormonal flow could she still possibly ovulate & menstruate (and be fertile???).
She LOOKS like she's maturing, so wouldn't that be growth hormone (GH)? She is a pretty young lady in that pix.

Next up...Jahi is pregnant!
If she is only "cortical death" (meaning the cortex, subcortical gray matter like thalamus and reticular formation) are dead, then everything below there, including hypothalamus/hypophysis is working on an autopilot, kind of. Puberty is possible, there were multiple anecdotal reports of pregnancy and labor in such cases.
People who are cortically dead may move (by spinal reflexes, mostly), sometime move eyes (IV and VI nuclei are deep in brain and do not depend on perforating arteries), have sleep/wake rhythms and have other body functions almost unaltered under standard conditions. The brain remains kind of functional and doesn't become an empty space like on famous Terri Shiavo's MRIs. It doesn'the mean that these poor souls can feel, think, etc. Their EEG is one of endless "deepest sleep" but sometimes they respond on intense pain and more often on changing conditions by simple spinal reflexes, and they may have positive deep evoked potentials.
By the picture, the vent is there but she had airway obstruction before, so she very well might be just on CPAP or something. She is probably getting better balanced nutrition now, sor her obvious obesity is gone. The tragic reality is that the poor girl is now probably healthier than she was before it all started. Her body is healthier, that is, because her soul is not here since December 2013.

They claimed breast development a year post brain death declaration. However the photo evidence, ironically shared by family, clearly showed ample breast development in the months and even the pre-op photos which destroys the family claims. It's been speculated she likely had menarche months before her devastating post op course.
The reports are they are attempting to get the death certificate overturned in federal court. The hairdresser posted a photo last week. The trauma surgeon blogger speculates serious neuroses between upper lip & nose and necrotic blister if not new facial piercing.
The photo on the right is so edited they forgot to add back her forehead mole/beauty mark. There are photos on Instagram by the hairdresser reportedly going to the NJ home to braid hair

That was a thought that I dared NOT type out as I did my last entry I didn't want to think that far!!!
TY to KatieMI for the technical info. Been a long time since I checked out hormones.
She does look peaceful, but I don't want to know what's under those blankets either.
Holding good thoughts for her.
