Longevity vs Innovative

I formally was a student years ago at the same place I now work. There are two people left that were my instructors and the rest are all new and mostly after I arrived. My two past instructors constantly cite their longevity as reasons for their decisions and put an end to any innovation offered by new instructors who have worked in similar programs. There is constant conflict to strictly adhere to how we have always done things, but it is not allowing us to keep up with changing times. How can you handle this? They do have a lot to offer but the conflict is so great change is stagnate. Often other instructors don't know they are offending them because they are just offering their experiences to improve the department.
