KINGWOOD UPDATE!!!! I spoke with a friend who is currently in the nursing program and the reason our letters are taking so long is...one of the lead decision makers is very ill and has been so contagious that everything is having to be emailed back and forth. This has also strained the staff if the nursing department. So please say a prayer and know it's not an intentional lack of awareness or efficiency. I'm so happy for all the Cy-fair folks! I wish you all the best and I'm thankful that at least we (kingwooders) have an idea about the cutoff!

Oh poop! I am sorry she is ill but- is there any update as to when the letters will be sent out?? It seems like if there was something like this going on, they would or should send a mass email to all of us in limbo- They were supposed to go out in September which was 8 days ago.. That seems like a long time to have a delay from something like that. Again, I am sympathetic and hope she gets better soon but, my life is currently on pause and my nerves are on end waiting to get some news so I can make plans for next semester. There is an accountability they should uphold by communicating with us. As of right now, they are being very passive by telling us when we call that "letters will be sent out in the next two weeks" instead of just saying "I apologize for the delay in letters being sent, the nursing director has been very ill and has caused us to get behind in processing the letters .. You should hear something in the next couple of weeks"

@hope510, I know my first step is to find a CPR class! Any ideas?

Check out local fire departments!! :) I am looking into that myself, I have American Red Cross, but I believe we need American Heart Association healthcare provider cpr..... so good luck! I will let you know if I find out anything!! :D

@Kalisefer, No, I haven't gotten a letter or anything yet. I've been stalking my mail lady too, so hopefully today I will get something and I'll know one way or the other. I did apply to two other schools, but won't know their decision until mid November. If I don't get in anywhere for the spring, then I am going to finish my undergrad degree (I only need 21hrs to graduate), then apply to the Bacc2 programs for the fall.

Ok, I found a CPR class. For those of you looking for CPR. I found an authorized training site for American Heart Association through their website. It's in Cypress, Tx. and it costs $45.00 for the BLS for healthcare providers certification. They have a few going on this month. You can register at learnitnowcpr.com

There is also Instruction by Masters. It's in the westchase area http://www.inbymas.com/ and he does the class just about every Saturday and the cost is $65 but he sends you all the study material and he also does ACLS & PALS certs too!

I had a friend who took the ACLS & PALS from and he highly recommends the instructor.

Funny thing, I was freaking out reading that list wondering what the heck the Toefl exam was...lol.or whatever it is called..I was like another test oh no!! hahaha...anyway, I don't need that, but I didn't know what it was and started to panic! We all need to chill out...yea right!! :p

I got accepted into Cy-Fair! I had an 11.504 and by the way, I never even received the email lol. @katybusymom: Don't give up! Hopefully you'll still be an alternate and you never know how it will turn out. I hope that you had fun shopping though-retail therapy is fun!

Good luck to everyone else and I am setting up a facebook account for the CyFair ADN 201X (what year do we graduate)? Does anyone know when we would graduate?

I got my letter from Kingwood! I'm an alternate which I'm happy with. When I applied I was expecting a denial letter so it's nice to still have a chance. I had an 11.3068, I think.

Good luck to all the others from Kingwood. Hopefully, you'll get your letters today.

@analystmama, Thank you for your kind words:) I'll let everyone know as soon as I get my letter of denial, lol. Maybe Lonestar just wasn't meant to be for me. It was a constant battle with them from the start. They lost my transcripts twice. They wouldn't accept my Nursing Microbiology class from UT Arlington for transfer credit and that is what kept me from getting accepted. Otherwise my score would have been 11.45.

I'm really very happy for all of you and I wish you much success in the Spring. I know all of you will do wonderful and amaze your teachers with your dedication and hard work.

@Lindalyn, don't forget to smile and wave at that man that was rude to you. Remember the one that said you weren't his competition. He's in for a shock! And you owe me ten bucks :)

Please wish me luck in getting into UTHSC. It's where I really really want to be, but I'll have to wait until next month to find out if I've been accepted.
