lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

In my case, I had Chicken Pox when I was a kid and I have to get a titer to prove immunity. Also if you NEED IMMUNIZATIONS, TOMAGWA clinic will provide them for $15.00 as many as needed or $15 per visit. I have got them there for my kids. Sometimes there is a wait, but it will save you lots of $$$$$$$

While the excitement is understandable, it is just orientation. It is essentially a welcome presentation with school resources and a few hours of what to expect and what is expected. The real fun will begin in January. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but nursing school is a marathon, not a sprint, don't get ahead of yourself and take everything one step at a time.

Like your source! I am positive I will be the oldest in my classes.

Hey guys I finally remembered my login info, well I got accepted as an alternate by both Cyfair and Kingwood. I will be attending the orientation on the 10th. If anyone is going then too, let me know so we can meet :) I wanted to know if anybody knows how to get off sap. I have been placed on financial aid sap because I acceded the credits allowed in Cyfair and I did appeal but I was denied. Now Im worried because I'm going to struggle but where there is a will there is a way and I'm just looking for that way, lol, anywho I will be graduating with an associates in Science in December and applied at pvam just in case nothing happens with this alternate position. Well if anybody has any advice please let me know :) Oh and CONGRATS, to all those who got accepted :)

Oh no, I will be a year into nursing school when I have to appeal. Very scary if they deny me. I can only pray till then!

I applied to Cyfair first, Kingwood second. My HESI was 88.8% and I have completed all of my pre-req's except for Pharm with a good GPA. Kingwood Nursing Director confirmed just a few hours ago via email that it is strictly based on the application score and score alone. I am waiting to hear back about what the discrepancy might be.[/QUOT

Well hopefully this get worked out. If all else fails with your score you're probably high on the alternate list so that's good. Lots of alternates get in due to ppl not getting stuff done on time. We all know how much of a hassel this process is and some wont step up to the challenge.

I was wondering, what comes next? I have 2 more requirements on my "to do" list: health insurance, and background check.

Do I have to wait for an email to get fingerprinted for my background check? Does anyone know the time frame for this process?

when I had to do my DO form after I sent it to the BON than they tell u to make a fingerprinting appointment 10 business days later

Just remember that everything does happen for reason and that this is what God has in store for you!!! Try not get wrapped up in all the negative and remember one thing that you have life. We are alive and breathing.........That is all that matters.
