lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

To clear Things Up***** Payment for drug testing is due October 4th (today).....Intent to Enroll form is due by October 8th.....Drug testing will be decided and it will be random for us...... However, I was suspected that they would drug test on us orientation on the 8th or 10th since are payments had to be in by today...That was just my theory....------ says that usually does not happen until the semester almost starts which makes more since to do since why drug test us now and leave a few months until the semester starts. Usually, drug testing starts right before you are employed or start a specific program....(I am just assuming I really do not know because I have never been drug tested). Anyways, I'm guessing we are peeing in a cup and not a blood test.

So should I be bringing with me some extra cash to orientation??? Will they be selling anything that I might need to go ahead and pick up?

Kingwood might be different on when they schedule the drug testing. As for selling anything at the orientation, no. It's a death-by-powerpoint lecture where they cover the basics of what to look forward to, what is expected from the students, and what resources are made available by the school and the nursing department.

Will the recommend a certain place to go to for scrubs and such...

Ideally, they would prefer you purchase through the campus bookstore, CyFair only carried Landau scrubs and I didn't care for the fit; however, they might give a few recommendations local to the Kingwood campus. Using some Google-fu, I found that Scrubs Etc is in a few locations in Humble.

I know of people who were drug tested at orientation and yes it was urine, not blood.

Thank you echo5ivedelta!

They found urine in their blood or blood in their urine? Or are you saying they found blood and urine in their drugs?

I have never been drug tested). Anyways, I'm guessing we are peeing in a cup and not a blood test.

Actually, it's a taste test

Paid for my drug test yesterday!! See you guys Tuesday!!!

Someone said earlier that they were guessing we would be giving a urine sample and not blood. I was just stating that the people I talked to all said they gave urine samples and some of them did that at orientation. That's all.

I think that is kind of harsh to drug test us on our very first meeting.....It's like hi, nice to meet you....Oh by the way can you pee in this cup for a drug test.....lol
