lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

Okay I can not read anything if they do not tell me anything or send me anything. Kingwood has not sent me no kind of notification on readings

I am going to enjoy my Christmas that is what I am going to do. The program has not started yet and I know it is going to take a lot of time away from me spending it with my babies. So I am enjoying these last few days that I have.

.

Echo5iveDelta do you have any clue about the books? I wanted to order off Amazon but I think some do not come with "bind-in access". Not sure if it's required but the ones sold from the bookstore come with them.

no i dont i was planning to go to the campus and see if the book store has it

is anyone getting the Ebooks? What do you guys suggest...I am still undecided

I'm torn also, but leaning towards Ebooks.

I was also thinking about regular textbooks but once I saw about getting myself a tablet now I am leaning towards Ebooks. but I never have had a Ebook

I've used Ebooks for most of my pre reqs, just not sure about them for the entire nursing program.

The Ebooks are very convenient, but I think with most of the new textbooks, I THINK you get Ebooks access, not too sure tho.

Well today I was placed "Does not meet SAP". No Financial aid unless my appeal is approved. Without financial aid.... never mind I don't want to think about that. I am cutting my trip short and will be knocking on the door of the Financial aid department the moment they open Jan 2nd. I'm a little concerned as I saw an earlier posting of someone that was in the same situation and they denied the appeal. I do have very good reasons and documentation for going over my limits. At this point I am just going to be very proactive and get the books I need for required reading during our break. Saying lots of prayers and putting it in God's hands.

Just submit the required stuff and you'll be fine. Have you already turned in all your financial aid stuff? Bc I was already awarded for the year so I just need to submit the required things then wait.

I can't just buy the books. That is the challenge.

is that because of your financial aid?? Well do not worry it will all work out. I have financial aid and I am led to believe that I messed up my book advances. I think this because there was an email that financial aid sent out saying that they wanted us to fill a form out saying whether or not if we wanted the book advance money to go either "to campus" or "off campus". Well, silly me filled the off campus form and did not realize till I submitted it to financial aid. So I filled out the on campus form as well after that. I called financial aid telling them of this and than they informed me that I have to come in person to handle that matter. I hope that I did not delay my money for my books because the way everyone is talking it sounds like I need those books now.

I'm a tactile learner and I think regular text books for me. When you buy the regular books with access codes you can view the books online at the website "THEPoint".com.

I am not going to purchase the study guide books( I think that's what they are called), because I heard from many current nursing students you don't have time to mess with them and therefore a waste of money.
