Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

I am worried I don't have a high enough score. I have a 11.478. I have full points from my gpa and prereqs. I was thinking of retaking the hesi for this application period but they said they accept the newest score and not the highest. What if by some bizarre chance I get a lower score. Should I just apply with my 11.478?

Someone correct me if I am wrong....but, if you are worried about the score maybe being lower than what you have already, take it at the Prometric Center (it's more expensive) and then only ask that the score be sent to Lone Star if it comes out higher than your other score. Wouldn't this work?

actually you can take the nclex every 45 days for up to 4 years...

how many times can i take the nclex exam?

the exam can be taken every 45 days for a four year period of time. this is governed by rule 217.2 which states in part:

• © an applicant for initial licensure by examination shall pass the nclex-pn or nclex-rn within four years of completion of requirements for graduation.
  
• (d) an applicant who has not passed the nclex-pn or nclex-rn within four years from the date of completion of requirements for graduation must complete a board approved nursing education program in order to take or retake the examination.
  

i don't know about you but this makes me feel so much better.

i think people keep mixing up the nclex with the exit hesi. you only have 3 tries with the exit hesi.

ahhh haaa, i read that part too, and i didn't know what to think. i know of a few people who were stressing over thier 3rd and last time to pass the nclex. i'm ganna have to do some further digging on this one. i know it's in front of me in black and white but if it's true, then this is freaking awesome!!!!

Someone asked about the HepB series...I got the fast track series done over the summer and it was only 6wks total to finish it. I will have to get a booster in a year, but I didn't have any records from when I was a kid so I was making sure to get all my bases covered.

I also dropped off my CE certificate for Micro yesterday at Kingwood and I asked the girl if I needed a receipt...she said they haven't even looked at any applications and simply put my certificate in the tray of "to be filed." A little discouraging, but I wanted to double check and make sure I got my little Golden Ticket as well! Tick tock...wait wait wait!!

This is why people should attend an information session - you can ask questions and get the official answer. At a Kingwood information session, we were told that for the Quest program, the cut score was 11.6 last time. We were also told that regular daytime programs at Kingwood and other campuses have had cut scores lower than 11.6.

Cut scores can go up or down. Each application period is different. Each campus is different. Retaking the HESI is a very personal decision. You should get factual information directly from Lone Star.
