Thanks so much for posting that. I did not get the e-mail, I wonder if Rj did. What time did they send the e-mail, I'm thinking maybe it went to my work e-mail instead....

it was sent at 4:32 :)

Okay cool, the would probably explain it. I had already signed off and was on my way home in the room. Thanks so much!!

What all do you have left to do? I still have to get my TB test, I was thinking of calling the place that Rj mentioned for $20, I wonder if it's covered by my insurance and the Tdap that I maybe have to get also. My goal is to schedule my physical sometime this week for no later than next Wednesday hopefully.

We should all pick a meeting spot to meet at for orientation. I can't wait to meet you guys! :lol2:

I'm so excited for you all! I have e-mailed the lady at Cy-Fair twice now, giving her some current phone numbers and an e-mail address and I have not received anything back from her.. I feel like I'm just hanging around not doing anything when maybe I should be doing something at least lol..

I asked her in the e-mail if I should attend orientations or not, the dates were not given to me in the alternate letter, but I just wanted to make sure, I also wanted to know what number alternate I was, and a few other simple questions, but I have received nothing...I will try to call them tomorrow but I work so it may be difficult..it's just so frustrating lol!

I don't want to get a phone call right before the semester starts and then have to do everything all at once, I want to get started like the rest of you lol, but such is the life of an alternate I suppose lol...

Hi Everyone- I saw that ya'll did your background checks so I jumped on the bandwagon too. I have left, TB, Physical,Tetorifice/Dipth. I'm all for meeting before orientation. I can't wait. Have you applied for financial aid yet? Be sure and fill out the FAFSA to see if you qualify. If you have kids, you probably qualify. Remember, it's our tax money finally coming back to help us. IT's NOT CHARITY!

Yes, I got the email about the change also.

I'm in the process of getting my financial aid...it's been a hassle for some reason this year..i figure the government is helping me now, but when I'm a nurse, they're going to take it right back out of my paychecks so i honeslty see no shame in it! I'm not abusing the system or anything, and i work really hard at school, so I am very grateful for financial aid!

I applied for financial aid too already. I took them everything that they needed on Friday. I hope there are no hiccups but then again you never know. I am also applying for a "scholarship" through my job. They will pay all my tuition, fees, and book costs for the entire program if I sign on to work for them after I graduate year for year. I figure it's win-win because at least I know I have a job waiting for me, but I am hesitant because my main focus areas are L&D, ER, and PACU in that order. My job has an ER but I want some action like when I worked at Hermann, now that's action ER :lol2: I've always been intrigued by L&D so I'm up in the air. I just think it's a great opportunity and they have their own nurse internship program.

Erica- I read over the old threads and remember in at least two threads someone saying to make sure you go to the orientations even if you're an alternate. Maybe ctgirl or smilbig (Kim) will post the orientation date for you. I would hate for you to supposed to have gone and didn't because Mary is never at her desk... I called her numerous times during the app period too, and she never once picked up the phone for me...

Great! It sounds like everyone is getting their 'ducks in a row'.

TT- you are so lucky to have a job that'll help you out like that. My work will only pa if your taking a class that has to do with your current job. Our HR dpt said they'd help me fill out paperwork to at least try and see if corporate will pay. I'm their Health&Safety Officer. I teach CPR/FirstAid to the employees and their families (if they want) and am in charge of the disaster first aid team there. However, they don't employee nurses so I guess that would be their out for not helping with the tuition. I know, it makes no sence.

I know Rj. I feel so lucky to even have such an opportunity. It's a matter of getting approved for the program here but it's worth a shot. Meanwhile, I am starting to apply for other nursing student scholarships this week. You should pass CPR with flying colors! :lol2: And that does make no sense, that's such a cop out. I think it's funny when most employers want employees with some type of educational background but really don't help nor encourage the growth potential of the employee... crazy I tell you. Oh yeah, I checked my e-mail here at work this morning and they did send it to my work e-mail, my letter of intent has my personal e-mail so that's why I was  LOL.

Have a great day you guys (gals) :chuckle
