Hello!

i am an RN living and working in the suburbs of Atlanta. My husband and I are burnt out in our jobs and looking for a change for our growing family. We want to move to a city or suburb Thereof that is family friendly for younger families. I have been interested in Raleigh Durham NC Denver or Colorado Springs Colorado, Tampa or St. Petersburg Florida, Houston Texas, or Seattle Washington.  I am a nicu nurse looking to stay in pediatrics but not necessarily nicu. Can people offer insight on cost of living, housing, family life and wages in any if these locations?

I worked in Houston in a NICU for about 5 months in 2013, base pay with 16 years NICU experience (30 total) was $44 downtown, plus 6% for working downtown plus night shift diff.  I lived in Kingwood with friends 35-50 minutes drive depending on traffic.  Kingwood is a nice place to live, though there are many other suburbs closer that are nice too.  I'm guessing it wouldn't be any more expensive than Atlanta.  Lots of family things to do.  If course there are hurricanes....same with Tampa.  I've heard there are lots of nurses in CO so I wouldn't go there without a job.  I got called for my Houston job within a couple hours.
