I live in Florida and just finished the course in 12/2012 at a Florida school, however I live closer to the testing center that is in the state of Alabama. Some recently licensed nurses and some students I know have told me if I take the test in Alabama I might get questions based on being a nurse in Alabama and may missed those questions. Is this true? Is it safe to take the test in another state and pass? Could nursing law be different from one state to another? I'm confused please help.

hogwash. The test is not related to the state where it is taken. It is a national test. You would have to transfer your FL info to the AL BON ($$$$) and request licensure in that state, then pay again if you intend to get a license in FL. Get your license then think about branching out later.
Better yet, go to the official website regarding NCLEX and do what THEY say is appropriate. http://www.ncsbn.org

Once you get your ATT from FL, you can schedule your test at any testing center. You don't have to apply through Alabama to take the test in Alabama. The test is the same everywhere.

I graduated in one state and tested in another. It's a national test, so you can take it anywhere there is a Pearson Vue Center. You can even take it in another country! Your license would be issued by the state where you initially applied for licensure.

I'm sorry but this is incorrect. You can take the test anywhere. The testing center site has nothing to do with that states BON. NCLEX will send your information to the state you applied to not the state you tested in.
I live in SC but tested in NC because the testing site was closer to me. My friend took her test in Vagas but lives and works in SC.
OP, the test is national, it is not state specific.
