Live In NJ, Work In NY

U.S.A. New York

Just curious, I just graduated and am curious about working in NYC. I'm a native NYer and moved to NJ a few years ago. The salaries here are not great. Just wondering...any RN's live in NJ (where) and work in NY (where)?

Thank you,

Looking for insight!

Really? I don't know what gave me the idea that NJ salaries were better.. What are the average starting salaries in NJ?

For new grad nurses, it seems that NYC pays anywhere from $2000 - $10,000 more than NJ hospitals.

Where in NJ are you?

For example - I have heard that both Hackensack University Medical Center and Jersey City Medical Center are starting new nurses at over $70K for nights. ( i was told around $73K to be more precise).

So there are hospitals in NJ that will rival the NYC hospitals in terms of salary and you will pay a lot less tax if you stay in NJ. And also pay less commuting costs.

Just some suggestions. Where in NJ do you live?
