Hello everyone, I am a new LPN, just Licensed in March, this year. I got a parttime job opportunity with my the LTC facility that I did my internship and that is the only job I have at the moment. There hasnt been a full time opening or else I would have been offered one. I have been looking for a supplement fulltime, parttime or even perdiem and prn job openings since then and I haven't gotten one to save my life. My point is that; I believe first of all, LPN's have limited job oppotunities any where and Tallahassee is definitely one of the worst places to be a new LPN graduate because, not only are you going to get paid way less than you are really worth, it is very difficult to get a full time job, period. I beleive the reason why is because there are so many nursing schools in Tallahassee. Keiser, TCC, FAMU, FSU, ITT, Lively tech and Gadsen Tech. That is seven Nursing schools in Tallahassee alone, therefore Nurses are always looking for jobs. I ran into one of the students that graduated from a class before me in February of this year and she is still looking for a job since October 2010. I dont know if there are other people in Tallahassee that are in the same situation as I am. I need advice, does anybody know anyone they can refer me to at a Facility, hospital, LTC, Clinic, Urgent Care Center, somewhere, anywhere. Please somebody help me, Thank you.

Its all over the country...not just in your area. Lower wages if you are even able to find a job. We have RN's working as CNA's in California because of the lack of work.

RN's working as CNA's, how depressing. They need to stop publishing all these articles about the nursing shortage in the meantime.

Yes, it's everywhere. For example, where I went to school there were at least 12 schools within a 50 mile radius graduating RN classes. I don't know how many for LPN's. Not nearly enough jobs to absorb all of those nurses.
