License renewal

Hello,

About a month ago I renewed my license and chose the compact license instead of the state license, thinking it would be useful to have in the future if I plan to travel.  I didn’t know the fingerprinting would cost $40, and have no desire to pay if my travel idea isn’t even in place right now. I also have to fill out an FBI form but I do not understand some of the questions (like being a wholesale distributor of prescription drugs, DBA name??)

 

Since I never got fingerprinted, it looks like my license is supposed to expire on 2/28/2022. I’ve been trying to call my state’s department of safety and professional services to switch my request from a compact license to a regular state license, but apparently it’s notorious for not answering the phone or returning e-mails. Our receptionist asked me last week why it looked like I hadn’t renewed my license yet. I’m super worried I won’t be able to work after the 28th, even though I paid the license renewal fee.

Any advice? I have no idea what to do from here. It might be easier to just get fingerprinted and send in the forms but I know all that won’t be in by the 28th either.

I think I did the same thing on accident. I didn't realize there was fingerprinting involved...
