I checked the status of my license in Illinois IDFPR site. It says
State check-failed/rejected
FBI-failed/rejected
Etc. I know my background isn't clear because I got a misdemeanor DUI in 2012. I sent a letter explaining what happened along with official documents to continental. Does continental share those documents with the BON? Or do I need to resend it to IDFPR? They let me sit for the NCLEX. I'm just wondering why it's taking so long and if it's more I need to do. They haven't sent me a letter or gave me a reason why it was rejected. Anyone else experienced this?

I'm sorry for your trouble. Also don't know what continental refers to here. The best advice is to get an attorney with experience in Board of Nursing issues. The attorney can then advise you about next steps such as a hearing .
These laws also seem to vary from state to state jurisdiction. You may be able to get licensed in a neighboring state but not in your own. Best of luck to you.
Continental is a third party in Illinois our BON uses for applications. A lawyer is not necessary to tell me if I need to send anything to IDFPR.

Hopefully you are on the right path to determining your best course of action by now.
I would think your first step if you haven't already done so needs to be contacting your state BON and asking them exactly what they need if you haven't received a letter from them yet explaining the decision. I know some states are notoriously slow so a phone call or two can't hurt if you haven't heard anything from them yet.
When you have a better idea of what exactly you are dealing with then you can make an informed decision if hiring an attorney that is experienced with licensing issues would be beneficial.

Thank you, my license has posted. Beware of the many lawyers on this site trying to prey on nurses. You do not need a lawyer for 99% of the problems we encounter. However, there are always comments about contacting a lawyer. Please do your own investigation before paying anyone to tell you what's public knowledge.

Congratulations ?? Did BON send you a deficiency letter?
I didn't get a letter. I just sent them what I sent continental. The entire process is outdated. Continental for the application, Pearson Vue for the exam, and BON for the license. We shouldn't have to deal with and pay 3 different entities. Nor should we have to send the BON and Continental the same documents. It's time consuming and inefficient. From the time of my application til I got your license was about a 3 month span. Then most jobs want your license posted before they even consider your application. So tack on another month for employment. Graduated in December and will be starting my job at the end of April. Btw you can't pay for your license online. You have to mail a money order with your application from continental(again who the BON hired so not sure why they don't automatically send it to the BON). It's a big ball of confusion. My classmates didn't know who they should call to check on their application. BON kept telling me to call Continental and vice versa. I'm glad it's over. The process is more stressful than the actual exam.
I graduated December 17, 2021. I took NCLEX Feb 23 and passed. The following week I paid 50$ March 1st. I was curious so I looked on site and it said background failed/rejected. I knew I had some things on my background. I wrote remorse letter, had character letters. I sent in things that were expunged off of my record. The school sent it to continental and they forwarded it to the state. BON is saying they didn’t receive any documents for me. Continental saying they sent information after I took my NCLEX. I thought that it was sent after graduation. I uploaded documents to IDPFR. Still nothing no deficiency letter or anything. I wasn’t trying to hide anything. I told them about everything. I am so frustrated. I have been patiently waiting on a deficiency letter or an email. Nothing
Dion 84 Did you email documents or upload them in your portal?
If you sent them your letter and original disposition then you will get your license. I faxed mine to them on a Monday and that Friday my license had posted. Do not believe Continental LOL. They do not forward your letter explaining or the documents you send them. Everyone with something on their background goes through this. As long as you sent them everything they need you will get your license. It is frustrating having to wait so long. Looks like we may both be in Chicago and probably attended the same school.
Thank you for all of this information. I went to school in Springfield.
