I have a quick question about LVN license expiration dates....
Is there any good reason why a group of people who all have the same issue date for their LVN license, also have different expiration dates?
Such as mine and a friend of mine were both issued on June 21, 2008, but my expiration date is Aug 31 2009 and my friends is Dec 31 2009, and a couple classmates of mine who have the same issue date have expiration dates in 2010.
Is the expiration date a random thing, or do I need to contact the nursing board?
Thanks

I am licensed in 2 different states. The expiration month typically corresponds with the birth month of the licensee. For example, I was born in February. My Texas license expires at the end of February, and my California license expires in March.
In addition, the year of expiration usually corresponds with the birth year of the licensee. People who were born during even-numbered years (1950, 1980, 1972, etc.) will see their licenses expire during even-numbered years (2008, 2010, 2012, etc.). I was born in the odd-numbered year of 1981, so my license must be renewed every 2 years in 2009, 2011, 2013, etc.

If they tested the same time as you, then it is based on birthdays as far as determining when you will need to renew. Your BON should have included a letter explaining this when the license was first sent out to you.

In the state of Indiana, all LPN licenses expire October 31st of even numbered years, and all RN licenses expire October 31st of odd numbered years. I was licensed as a LPN last year but still have to renew this year. Fortunately, we can do it all online and it posts nearly immediately. I guess all states are different, though.
