Hi There,
I have joined “allnurses” group just now. I am glad to see all well experienced people here. could anyone please suggest me that if a new license holder can’t start practising for some reasons, then for how long LPN license is safe. I have heard that there is three years of safe time. After 3 years license get cancelled. I have renewed my license ( Ontario) 1 time without practicing. I need to do the same this year. Hopefully I will start job next year before my 3rd time renewal period. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you

I know in Alberta, you have to have a certain number of hours to keep your license. So after 4 years you don’t have the required number (which is 1000 or 1200 I believe) you cannot keep your license but will have to take a refresher course. I would suggest you contact the college of nursing of Ontario. If you go to long you may need to take a refresher program or take the course over again
good luck!
Anandab, Thanks for this valuable information. So, I think if I start my job by next year, then I can keep my license as it comes under 4 years. Am I right here? I got my license in March 2020. And as you have mentioned the refresher course, is it 2 year LPN course again?
You’ll have to contact your college regarding that as all I know about is Alberta.
OK, thank you so much for your reply.
