Lice drama and It's not even MY drama!!!!

There's a lice OUTBREAK at the school my kids go to (a whopping 3 kids) and get this...they were ALLOWED to finish their day!

Since everyone knows I'm a school nurse, guess who's been fielding questions and complaints?

Seriously people, stop it!!!!

That is all, carry on :roflmao:

Hahahahaha

About a month into the school year, the lice panic started here. One of my girl littles continued to have lice. Her people claimed treatment after treatment. Teachers were HYSTERICAL! Then that sweet baby showed up with her head shaved! I was devastated for her. As were the teachers. But we didn't make a big deal out of it and just supported her. It shut the teachers up. Haven't heard lice mentioned since...

The Lice Hunt of '17. That was the worst year for me. They wanted me... to take time off my paperwork, required by state due in a few weeks, to check a whole school of 500+ students. For no reason. Just to be "Preventive". And get this? They wanted me to check again in the spring. My old head nurse said I had to do it, even though there's no reason to.

It was ridiculous. That's why I'm happy we got a new AP and she agrees with me.

Just now I had a crazy story happen:

So I got called by one of the mom's telling me that LD told her, that a friend had lice.

I went to check, just to do it, because y'know, whatever.

I checked kid, nothing. She's fine.

Then just now, the coach called me. Tells me that the kids saw I called her in and said she has lice and started to spread rumors. Hurting this poor little girl's feelings and now she was crying so much in PE.

I went and I literally got so mad. I called the girls and I started to raise my voice and tell them this is unacceptable! This is gossping and bullying! How can they do this to their friend?! And they told me the boys were doing it too, and I also raised my voice at them. I told them I do not accept bullying and doing this is horrible! They all apologized to the girl and were crying because they felt bad.

I did end the note about lice, that it's nothing to worry about, they only climb, not jump or fly and I will not be used for bullying.

But man, they never seen me mad. I'm super nice and happy all the time, they saw a mean side of me, but it was justified. I will not accept bullying in my school, because as I said to them, I was bullied so much as a kid, it hurt me so much , that it still hurts as an adult. I told them that I wish I had someone like me or friends like the kids have here in this school, my life would've been so much easier.

So it's fixed, I made sure I told my AP, just in case, things get out of hand. I just hope the parents don't come after me for this.

I kinda broke down right now crying in the teacher's lounge. I'm worried I'll be fired for that. One of the parents, got upset with me because I yelled and said I shouldn't have yelled.

Kids can be mean little monsters, no matter how old they are. You told your AP what happened, and as long as the AP is aware and didn't say anything negative you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about the parent. Todays parents think that theirchildren are perfect, and will complain about anything and everything. Don't lose any sleep over it...

Amethya--keep your head up. You stood up for a child who was being bullied. You yelled at some kids who needed to have a little fear put in them. You did the right thing and your AP will see that.

Thanks guys. Again just now another mother came with a child and was like "My daughter saw a student with lice." I'm like, okay I'll check when I can. But I sure as hell not doing it. I even explained lice isn't an issue, as long as they don't get too close to each other but she was like, that's not true and she has girls. and I told her again, UNLESS THEY GET TOO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER OR SHARE THINGS, THEY WILL CLIMB! THEY DO NOT JUMP OR FLY, THEY CLIMBBBB!
