Letter of intent & CV

Hi all! I am going to be graduating from an ACNP program in early August. I have two questions about starting the job search process.

1. One of our professors recently mentioned that it would be appropriate for us to start sending letters of intent to get ourselves out into the job market. Did any of you do this when you were in school? Did you find it to be helpful?

2. I got an email from my old nursing director letting me know that there is an NP positioning open. She spook with the attending MDs on the service and they thought I would be a good candidate. She gave me a contact to send my CV. So, besides my RN background, what should I include in my CV? Also, is it too early to be applying for these positions?

Thanks!

Perfect opportunity to send a letter of intent besides your CV. In your Letter I would let them know what you are looking for in a position and why you are interested in this position, I would also include things like I earned all excellent scores from my preceptor in the following rating categories.....if you can include this in a non-braggy way.

In your Cv inculde student clinicals- clearly marked under a category such as Student CLinical Experience -with just a sentence or two explaining each clinical like : SO&SO Cardiology -Dr so, Worked with Dr So and adult pt population focusing on HTN, HLP, CHF, and post-MI pt management in clinical setting as well as rounding on hospital pts for cardiology consults. (Date).

Thanks! They want me to submit the application ASAP so I have been working on the CV. It is kind of a scary experience thinking that I am going to be out of the safety net of school soon. I appreciate your input.
