ok, so i understand that nclex result will not expire. but what if worse comes to worst and it's already more than 3 years from the date of the ca letter? what will i do? my other big problem right now is i passed nclex without a local board (nle). they didn't require the time i applied. but i'm reading here that ca is being more strict about it. they might not approve my application on the 2nd time because i don't have a local license. and my passing the nclex would just be a total waste. i hope not! i didn't take the local board anymore since i am chinese citizen and if you're not a filipino citizen then you're exempted, am i right? since this is the case, does anyone know if i can still volunteer here in the philippines as a nurse? just volunteer.

yikes! hold your horses... where are you? I'm a little confused here, and I won't be able to offer any advise. Please call the CA BRN and explain your situation... they should be able to enlighten you.
Good luck.
I am in the Philippines right now...

I have moved this thread to the International Forum since it is specific to issues for foreign trained nurses. The majority of American nurses are not aware of the additional requirements.
1. You would still be exempt from writing the NLE since Philippine law does not permit you to write that exam.
2. You can not get a volunteer position in the Philippines since you do not hold a license to be able to practice there.
3. Please take the time to do some reading on the International Forum concerning what you need to do so that your passing letter does not expire. You will need to apply for licensure to another state before the actual three years is up. All of the instructions as well as discussions concerning this can be found on the International Forum as well.
