I'm currently going to school for medical assisting, I dropped the core classes until I can find out what my options are. My lawyer couldn't answer them, my academic adviser couldn't answer them, the chairman of the nursing board couldn't help either. I was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for battery with bodily injury, the situation was not straightforward and my attorney's office was in disbelief that I was getting charged, the "victim" was not innocent nor a victim and I had evidence and witnesses proving so but it didn't matter to the prosecutor. As a result, I was recently placed on the diversion program for one year (Jan 2021). It will show on my record as dismissed once I complete the program. Will this prevent me from getting into school for the MEAS program, doing clinicals, getting a job? Your best bet would be to talk with someone at the school you wish to attend.  You might want to wait until your legal matters are behind you; I'm thinking the school would be less likely to be sympathetic while your situation is active.  Good luck!
