length of the skills test with the red cross

Published

Anyone take the cna skills exam with the red cross? I was just wondering how long that took and how many skills they had you do? thanks!

I took RC exam last month and passed.

My skills were dressing a patient, blood pressure, range of motion upper body and of course hand washing. I was told we had up to 10 minutes per skill.

The Red Cross skills testers were 'generous' and helpful; asking people who forgot an element 'are you sure you are finished?'.

I took mine twice cuz i flubbed on dressing a patient with a left sided weakness.

Skills I did within the two attempts were:

ROM of the shoulder and arm.

Denture Care

Moving a pt from wheelchair to bed

Dressing a pt with a left side weakness.

HANDWASHING!!!!

I passed with flying colors the second time. The instructor said to me, "don't you DARE stop at this level, you should definately pursue nursing.":D

The best advice I can give to you is, RELAX, take your time, know your right from left (i didnt because i was so nervous). The instructor was really patient. And she will ask, "are u sure you are done?" if she does she is giving you a hint. You are NOT done. Just make a correction. GOOD LUCK! It will feel great when you complete it.:yeah:
