I'm an LPN and I'm curious as to whether anyone has completed a legitimate LPN-RN online course and received their license? I'm looking at the College Network and I'm going to talk to them about the program but I'd like to hear from someone who's actually competed an online course and recieved their RN license. I'm debating about whether to attend a local college or go through the online college network. Advice is greatly appreciated!!!

As I am sure others will tell you, stay far away from TCN. Go directly to Excelsior College and skip the middlemen.

You can not get your license through TCN. They publish the study guides for you to test out of. You will not recieve your degree from them , your degree will come from a differenct source, ie. Excelsior College, Indiana State University ( those are the only 2 that I know of). You can actually by pass them if you wish, and will save quite bit of $$$$.

Check with your state because I have heard many states not accepting the online degree for LPN-RN. I was planning on going through excelsior but then I heard that states aren't accepting it and I don't want to do all that hard work and get nothing out of it.
Good luck and if you find out any info on this let us know.

Hi, I was also curious about the LVN to BSN program that is linked with The College Network. I actually have an appointment with a representative tonite. I went to the community college here where I live to get some info, but the counselor I saw had no information on the program what so ever, but then again he wasn't very helpful. He didn't like the idea that I would rather go somewhere else than their own RN program. He did verify that it was an accredited program (offered by Indiana State). I am very interested in researching this option as I would like to get my BSN rather than just an associates degree. But I don't want to waste any of my already precious time if it is not legit:) The representative did say that this program would be honored in California and that graduates would be able to take their state boards. If any one has any legit alternatives that they know of please let me know, thanks!

The College Network is not an LVN-to-RN program. The College Network is nothing more than a publishing companie engaged in the business of selling study materials that eventually lead to a nursing degree from eISU. Therefore, ISU is the school you're really dealing with.
Most people are able to earn their LVN-to-RN bridge program nursing degree from ISU without ever going through expensive publishing companies such as the College Network. In addition, people have attempted to get out of contracts drawn by TCN, and all were unsuccessful.
Buyer beware. . .

I went to an online LPn to RN program through Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas.
The THEORY was mostly on line (I had to travel to the school maybe 4 times over the course of the year for 1-2 days each time, usually a weekend).
The clinicals were bunched together at the end of each semester, Thurs, Fri, and Sat from 6a-4p. Some of my classmates had to travel and stay in a hotel during the clinicals, but my site was close enough that I could drive to and from every day.
This school has a classroom based program as well. My degree says it is from the school, not that it is from an on line program. KWIM? It still met all the requirements for clinical hours and classes for the Kansas State Board of Nursing--something that Excelsior does not, fwiw.
Long story short, yes, I graduated from a mostly online LPN to RN program, passed the NCLEX with 75 questions and had my job waiting for me.

I think that OK also has an online LPN-RN program for residents.
