There are many LNC courses showing up on Google. Can anyone advise me as to which ones are legitimate and accepted by attorneys?

hello, bill4745 and welcome to allnurses.com

attorneys normally haven't a clue regarding what an lnc is much less what education they possess.

check out the stickies posted at the top of this forum. i have singled out several programs. also, when you come across a program online and have questions about the legitimacy, please post here and i can help you.

enjoy the site.

just to make sure i understand, you are saying that a legal nurse is not a real title???? or in other words not recognized as a true position in the nursing/legal field???

I suppose I got that from you stating that most lawyers don't know what an LNC is? I mean if they are just employing RN's due to their clinical experience. Why take the course???Who does know what this title means?I don't mean to come off being sarcastic,I truly want to know because I have one day to decide if I want to enroll in Kaplan.I'm not rich so if it isn't necessary to have the title(I have 20 yrs.nrsg experience) I'd rather know that now than $3,000 later.

That was a very long leap you took regarding what I said about the attorney needing education on the LNC duties and LNC not being a REAL title.

That said, attorneys want and look for the best qualified individual for the case at hand. LNCs fit that description. Once the attorney finds out just what we can offer, they desire our expertise.

And, there is much more to the LNC than RN with clinical expertise.

Also, education is never wasted.

I hope you have read through the stickies that I made for those wanting to know about this field.

If you pursue Kaplan, good luck. I think you will be glad you made the decision for formal education.

The Certified Legal Assistant designation has been recognized by numerous State Supreme Courts or Court decisions for purposes of legal billing.

In the legal profession, therefore, the Legal Nurse Consultant designation has no authority while the Certified Legal Assistant designation does.
