Leaving New England- Florida bound

Published

Specializes in Education and oncology.

Greetings,

Just putting a "feeler" out there. I'm leaving Boston and have applied for- and gotten FL license. Where to go? Experienced RN with 28 years of oncology nursing and 10 years of education. Willing to be patient but looking for oncology job as I have AOCNS certification and MSN. Any recruiters out there? I really don't want to take travel job, but I will if I have to. I have taught at the NP level and the ASN level but oncology is my passion.

(((Thanks))) for all who have advice or suggestions.

Specializes in Home Care.

What area of Florida are you interested in?

I'm sure with your experience you'll find something in any area of Florida you choose.

Here in the Tampa Bay area is http://www.moffitt.org/ which specializes in onocology.

A great hospital in Clearwater is http://www.mortonplant.com/

St Petersburg is a lovely city, check out http://www.bayfront.org/

Ok, I'm partial to Pinellas county, its surrounded by water on 3 sides and has lots of beautiful parks and beaches. The county is built out but there are some really nice areas to live in and the price of housing is reasonable. Commuting within the county is also pretty easy once you know the roads.

I really can't help you out, but I just wanted you to know you are not alone. I'm also leaving New England for Florida. My hubby is in the CG so we are transferring down. I've already gotten my license but I don't have near the experience you do. I only just graduated May 2009 with my RN. Good luck on the job search!:)
