So I have chosen to leave my job.
Advice on how to do so? How many days advanced notice does my manager need?

You will have to find out your facility's policy on how much notice is necessary. Most places require at least 2 weeks notice. Give notice gracefully- it's not the time to complain and burn bridges.

2 weeks on general. I always love it if I'm given more of an advance by my nurses. It will take me longer than 2 weeks to find a replacement and train the new nurse. Anything under 2 weeks is marked as a no-rehire at my hospital. You don't want to burn any bridges.

I gave my employer an official one-month notice and an offer to work per diem, although she knew months in advance that I would be leaving.

Submit a written notice of resignation to your DON and make sure to keep a copy for yourself. If you don't submit you letter of resignation in person, follow up to make sure the DON got it. Give a minimum of 2 weeks notice, longer is nice if your situation allows.

The longer, the better.
IMO, the best approach is to offer up a long notice (say, 1 month) along with a request that they permit you to leave earlier if they're able.

Check the hospital policy. One place I worked would pay us our vacation time that we had built up as long as we gave at least that amount of a notice. Say you had 4 weeks of vaca time, in order to get paid for that time they required a 4 week notice. If we gave a 2 week, we lost that other 2 weeks worth of vacation pay.

It's one month where I live and I worked PRN shifts for two months to help my employer.
