I have been thinking of taking Sign Language, as it is interesting to me. My question is would sign language be useful for a nurse to know?

Hi!
You will not come across the need every day, but if you know ASL... you will be a hot commodity! Learning another language only helps you (being marketable) and help a wider range of patients.
I say go for it !!! :)

I mean it certainly wouldn't hurt you.. However learning a new language is a huge time commitment.. And time is precious in nursing school..

YES YES YES!!! As a deaf person, it makes my day when anybody on my healthcare team knows ASL!
Go for it!
