Hi,
I've got a 2 part question:
-Has anyone got experience/ know how the LDR training positions work at the RAH in Edmonton? There's a job posting for a training position but not much info. I have my practical perinatal theory through a distance course but no unit experience as of yet.
-Generally, how difficult is finding nursing work in Edmonton? I've just relocated here from somewhere that didn't have much opportunity and hoping to get more experience/ opportunity. So far most of my experience the last few years has been LTC with a little bit of private health paeds and some immunization clinics.
Thanks in advance :)

It is difficult to find work anywhere in AHS. Every posting has at least 75 internal applicants.
Every training position has 100s of applicants. But the education offered is awesome.
Those of us in the system have a hard time moving around.
The interviews are scored and you never know your score.
So, if you do get an interview know your stuff, and keep talking. Short answers don't score well

I have also looked at this position! Does anyone know how I can get NRP certification without being an employee? It's a requirement for applying.
Before I had my baby, I was working on getting my perinatal specialty through BCIT. I took the NRP course in Vancouver. Cost about $500 or so. I'm sure it's offered here as well.
Was it an online/self learning course, or was there an in-classroom component? I always thought it was always done in person with simulations and practice, but I'm finding lots of (questionable??) online NRP classes in my searches.
