Hello
Just wondering if anyone has gotten accepted for Spring 2012/RN program at Long Beach City College?
Hoping to hear something soon,..at Orientation they mentioned that applicants would be notified by first week of September and I haven't heard anything.
Hi. I've been accepted for the 2012 program and am very excited. My science GPA was 3.75 and overall GPA was 3.5. We were told by the director that all applicants would be entered into a pool in two GPA categories: 2.5-3.5 and above 3.5-4.0. From there a specific number would be picked at random from each group to a total of 60 students. That's what we were told and that's as far as I know.
As for the TEAS test, I understand CSULB has one coming up in December but I'm not sure if it's open to anyone. I've tried to call them and have not heard back. Someone also told me that there might be some other local city colleges that may be administering the test but I've yet to find any further info about it.
I am assuming we'll be told more at the upcoming advisement meeting.
The office never answers the phone and will not call you back. Even if you go in person, the info I've gotten in the past has been unreliable. It's very frustrating dealing with the office.
I hope this answers some of your questions. Good luck!
I was denied admission to the LBCC program after receiving a 4.0 in all pre-requisites at LBCC due to the fact that I didn't meet the minimum GPA requirements. I met with two counselors prior to applying who signed off on my application, so I know everything was fine. I sent an email to the director about their problems with math and was told they would recheck my GPA, but never heard back. If this is the kind of administration that LBCC nursing has to offer, then I am glad that I won't be attending this nursing school. Since then, I've been accepted into an amazing BSN program, so it's all worked out for the best, and whatever their issues at LBCC are.. they are no longer my problem. :yeah:
Thanks for the update.
That's terrible about your experience with LBCC. I hope it's not indicative of their entire program as I've heard good things about their program. Sadly, I think their administration has gone downhill in the last year or so since the new director took over. The previous director stepped down, as I was told by another faculty member, and and I'm not getting a good feeling about the current one. Still, I think LBCC still has a good reputation with the local hospitals and I will just keep my nose to the grindstone, do my work and get it done.
Best of luck to you with the BSN program. Do you mind if I ask where you are attending. I plan to go back for my BSN once I finish the ADN and get some clinical experience.
Thanx, JMK... yes, I was accepted into CSU Channel Islands Goleta (Santa Barbara) Satellite campus/Cottage Hospital. There are only 22 people that were accepted and it's the first class to begin this program. I'm excited about such a small and intimate study environment...
I know several people who are in the LBCC program and they love it and are doing great, and the only complaints I hear is ..you guessed it.. the new administration... I'm sure you will do great, since you have a great attitude, and will have a great experience...Congrats!

What was your GPA in the science prereqs and overall as well as your TEAS score, if you don't mind sharing? It would be so helpful!
