Did you Google it? I didn't read any of the articles, but there were a few.
Yes. Thanks. I read some of the articles, however, it said 'TB can be passed to unborm child.....'. It did not specify if that was ACTIVE or LATENT. So I was wondering.. thanks.

I think that the TB has to be active before it can become systemic TB and get into the blood stream. If that logic is correct, than I would think it would be safe to say that Latent TB would not be passed on to the fetus.

The CDC has some excellent information.

WHO also has reliable information.

However, for more information about your specific situation, I would suggest you contact your local or state Public Health department. If this is being asked as a health care provider or student for additional information, the Public Health dept. can also furnish you with alot of info.

Go with reliable and recognized sources for information if it is for yourself or if you want a more informed answer before participating in the treatment of others.

This is not a forum that we can offer medical advice....you need to seek medical care from you PCP or your OB/GYN........
Thanks. Was not trying to get medical advice. I was wondering if others who had general knowledge of this could tell me if latent TB can be passed on to an unborn baby. Like for instance, HIV-infected mother's antibodies can be passed on to the baby through the placenta. This is known. I was wondering if anyone knew about latent TB transmission.... not trying to get medical advice (I know we do not give that on here), just some facts. Thanks.

Unfortunately you have posted quite a few questions about TB and it's known that you are pregnant. So with that in mind I will close this thread and urge you to seek the advice of your medical provider.
