I'm taking my preclinicals at LaGuardia. I've been accepted into a private nursing school and have another interview for another private program this week. The nursing program at LaGuardia is extremely small and based is on GPA for four core courses. There are about 300 people trying to get into 50 seats. Who you are and what your prior accomplishments are have no value. Entrance is based on your GPA for Biochemistry, Anatomy I, Psychology I and English 101.

I was thinking of going there this fall. I completed all there pre reqs and I have a 3.6 GPA. I'm wondering is that high enough to get in. But I didn't take any pre reqs at there school, however I did check "Cuny Equivalencie", and they would accept all my credits. I would love to get in there.

I was a student there 2 yrs ago and applied to the nursing program with a 3.7 gpa but didn't get in. You can only apply two times for the program so I didnt even bother to stick around for the second time to get rejected again. I am currently in the nursing program in a NJ school. So the nursing program at laguardia is extremely competitive and they only accept around 40 students. Good Luck!

I'm probably going to attend here. I'm sick of trying to deal with BMCC, and Laguardia is closer to where I live anyway.
Laguardia also has articulation agreements with lots of schools, so if you choose to continue on to get your BSN, you have a lot of options available. Everytime I've called the school, they've been incredibly nice and helpful, and actually know what they are talking about (again, in stark contrast to BMCC). I will be taking my remaining pre-clinicals at Laguardia and hope to begin the Nursing program there in the spring semester. My GPA is a 4.0, so I've been told that unless something drastic happens with my grades, I will likely be accepted. I think the cutoff was 3.6 or 3.7 for the current semester.
That said, I may feel differently once I actually start taking classes there. But my gut feel is that they are much more accomodating and seem to have their act together a lot more than BMCC.
