lac-usc salary

Hi can anyone help me? I am really confused regarding job offers. I was offered relief nurse at one county facility with an hourly rate of $44. My other county facility offer was RN 1 F which is still temporary but the pay rate is 31.25 . No benefits unless I get hired as full time. My question is most importantly is RN1 at county usually 31.25 for a new grad. Secondly why is the relief hourly so different from the RN1F? Both told me I could work have up to 39 hours, I am trying to make a sound decision by weighing the pro's and con's. Please does anyone have any info. I have searched every where. Thank You

Why don't you contact the managers offering you the positions or hr directly and post what you find out ? Could help out others who haven't gotten as far as you in the hiring process. Your entitled to that information as an eligible candidate so no need to be timid, most people won't know the answer to your question.

Thank you. But just on a side note I'm not the timid type. I did ask before I posted to this forum. The recruiters don't seem to give you the information. I did call HR and was transferred to the "person" I need to speak with and got the voice mail. Maybe it is because of the holidays. But It really seems like it's a mission to find out this information.

I'll definitely update when I get information. But if anyone has any insight it would be most welcome if you share it. Thank you.

yeah, contact your recruiters in either facility. my suggestion is to take the RN1F and apply for permanent (A item) after 6 months when you become eligible for that promotion. this means you get benefits, etc. (that was what i did when i worked there)

relief is higher pay but honestly, they dont have benefits and im not sure how they go through promotion anyway.

I don't think relief nurses can promote. On the salaries for LA County, while RN I shows a range for salaries, relief nurse only has one hourly value. OP, in my opinion, if you're only looking to County for the short term and don't need benefits, relief nurse is the better option, but if you're in it for the long haul, being an F item temporarily but being able to convert to an A item is the better way to go.

Relief RNs get paid more because they don't get a 401K and only medical benefits, not vision or dental, (per my hiring) and they work anywhere from 2-3 shifts minimum up to 40 hours and OT if needed. RN I gets comprehensive benefits + 401K and is required to work 40 hours/week and sometimes OT. Relief can be promoted to RN I if they are on the qualified list and there is an opening. Did you accept a job?

I'm in the same situation as you, Lucia. I was offered an RN1F position. I have so many questions...

What is it exactly? Is it a training position that will transition to a full-time?

Is the $31.25 pay rate listed somewhere?

Which one did you end up choosing?

Thanks in advance!

Hi.

I did take the RN1 F position. I have not started yet. I also have no clarity on the exact pay rate. I did call HR and they said for a new RN with no experience the hourly is 32.59. Once I have an orientation date I hope to have more information. I made my decision based on the experience I would gain in this particular Med Surg position. It seemed like a better investment for the future. The relief position was in post partum at another county facility.

Hey, I'm in the same step as you, i have passed the physical/health screening and am now waiting for my orientation date. Have you heard anything from them?

Hi everyone, I'm also in the same position of having to choose between RN1 F item vs Relief at different county hospitals. They are both in Med-Surge but the Relief position has a better schedule that allows me to fit my full time BSN program into the mix. I'm just nervous about not having an opportunity to get hired as an RN1 in the future if I go with Relief. Any opinions?
