Hey all,
Long story short, my boyfriend spoke to someone in his business whose wife was born in the Philippines where she completed her BSN and moved back to the states to reconnect with her husband somewhere in Los Angeles. I connected with her and asked a few questions but could still use some guidance. To give you a little background, I’m a 22yrs old U.S. citizen and full-time student at a community college in the Los Angeles area. I’m currently completing my Nursing prereqs and plan to continue to do so and then apply to a University in the Philippines. My goal isn’t exactly to earn my BSN and then come back to the states to practice, if I like it out there I have no problem staying, but worry my degree/license won’t be valid If i did wish to come back. With that being said, my questions/concerns are as followed:
1. Should I continue my prereqs here and then apply to a University in the Philippines as a transferee?
2. I’ve read a bit about the CA Board of Nursing denying graduates from the Philippines from becoming RNs or practicing in the States but have also seen some people say they found a way to do so. What is your knowledge on this?
Any other advice or tips you guys have would really be helpful too, thanks ?
